On 25 June – 3 July 2010 the Titian Foundation organized for 10 students and two teachers of SMKN 1 ROTA to undertake internship activities to Jakarta. Since the school focuses on ceramic and batik arts, the group was split into two smaller groups. Ceramic students were directed to undergo internship with Mr. F. Widayanto, a well known pottery artist. They visited Rumah Tanah Baru (RTB) Widayanto in Tanah Baru – South Jakarta, the showroom and sales counter in Jl. Setia Budi, and the workshop in Tapos – West Java.

Batik students visited Alun-Alun in Grand Indonesia, one of the city’s most famous traditional handicraft and art stores, to meet the principal – Ms. Pincky, Batik Bi to meet Ms. Helen, Indonesian Textile Museum and Harry Dharsono Center to meet Mr. Harry Dharsono, a remarkable batik and fashion designer.

The internship aims to widen students’ perspective on arts and creative industries, management and marketing issues in order to become a successful artist and entrepreneur later in life.
