In June 2010 Titian Foundation has signed a MoU with Prestasi Junior Indonesia (PJI), an alliance of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, Colorado – USA, for the implementation of entrepreneurship curriculum in SMKN 1 ROTA Bayat, Klaten. The MoU includes the establishment of Student Company (SC) and participation in SC Fair in Jakarta. Mr. Rob Gardiner, Managing Director of PJI, and Pierre Soulie, a French volunteer, visited the school in May 2010 to give technical support for the program.
On 25 – 26 July 2010, the school participated in the Annual SC Fair held in Plaza Semanggi, Jakarta, under the company named SAKURA. Sakura was a tremendous success in this event. Any misgivings people may have had about their ability to match their ‘big city cousins’ were completely dismissed by their excellent performance. Surprisingly as a first timer, Sakura won for The Most Active and Best Performing Student Company. Not only did they make a healthy profit, they were also rewarded for their efforts with prize money.
The students acted confidently in all that they did. Their performance was the best of all of the schools in the competition. This illustrates that these students do indeed have great potential and, when given the chance, can excel.
