Ms. Yoon Lai, a faithful scholarship major donor for the Titian Foundation Scholarship, visited SMKN 1 ROTA Bayat to meet Generation 1 of scholarship recipients on February 26th, 2011. She was accompanied by Amie, representative of CLSA Jakarta. Hosted by Mrs. Lily Kasoem, founder of Titian Foundation, they delivered motivational talks to the students. Ms. Yoon Lai told the students that when she was at their age she was also unclear on what she wanted to be. One thing she knew that she had to work hard in order to be someone. She also mentioned that her parent was not rich and that the person who highly influenced and motivated her was her aunt, who was a teacher. She assured the students that they can also be someone if they properly prepare themselves and work hard. Ms. Amie also told her story about the times when she was doing a small job in Klaten and her parents told her that being a girl is not necessary to work far. Yet through her ability to speak English she was picked up by Reuter news agency during the earthquake and given a good job as interpreter. During the visit they also took the opportunity to visit students’ houses.
At the end of the gathering Ms. Yoon Lai got a surprise present on her birthday from the students. Margono, Biari, Erina Vera Dewi and Choiri Nizak of SMKN 1 ROTA Bayat made her an Indonesia map out of batik.
