Each year ROTA sends volunteers recruited from various agencies in Qatar to do social activities related to education in the developing countries in which the organization provides support. In April 2014, Titian hosted two ROTA volunteer groups doing social work in Bayat, Klaten, Central Java.
The following month, in cooperation with the VCU-Qatar, ROTA sent volunteers to undertake social work in SMKN 1 ROTA Bayat. This is the fourth time VCU volunteers have worked at the school which was established through a joint cooperation between ROTA as sponsor, Titian Foundation as executor and the Government of Klaten of Central Java as its patron.
Two groups of volunteers came from university and five secondary girls schools in Qatar. Qatar University sent 20 student volunteers who were then directed by Titian Foundation to work on improving the education capacity at SD MI Paseban that has 120 students from levels 1 to 6. Aside from giving computer training, teaching Arabic and doing eco-friendly activities and sports, the volunteers also donated approximately USD 4,000 in the form of a basketball set for the children; three sets of desktop computers and two laptops; the installation of fans in every classroom and books for the school library. The Qatar University volunteer group also took the opportunity to perform cultural activities at CLC Titian Bayat during the visit.
The other volunteer group consisted of 20 female high school students from various schools in Qatar, accompanied by a some of their teachers. This group was assigned to work at SDN 1 Banyuripan. These volunteers managed to raise no less than USD 30,000 in the form of an Information Technology and Communication laboratory and provision of Titian scholarships to 12 children in Bayat who wish to continue their education to high school but have no financial means to do so.
