TQI Trains 52 Elementary School Teachers

Titian’s Teacher Quality Improvement (TQI) Programme has just completed two batches of TQI training in mid February and March respectively in partnership with Ancora Foundation (Ancora).

Beneficiaries of the two batches are elementary school teachers from 42 schools in three regencies, Bantul, Gunungkidul and Kulonprogo. Assuming that each teacher’s class has an average of 28 students, the indirect beneficiaries can be as many as 1,176 students who will encounter a more enjoyable learning experience.

The two-weeks training is conducted in isolation and the subject matter being taught include personality, social and pedagogy. After training, teachers are given a three-month mentoring period. Titian also evaluates the effectiveness of the training by conducting a pre-test before training begins and a post-test after the mentoring period is completed. Appraisal from their colleagues, Principal and students are included in the post-test.

Upon training completion, teachers are given a certificate that is signed by and registered at the Head of Education Department, Youth and Sports of Yogyakarta.

Ancora has supported six batches of TQI training since 2014, benefitting nearly 200 teachers.
