Titian Tangsel Scholarship Introduction Day

Titian Tangsel Scholarship Introduction Day

The commencement of Scholarship Programme in Tangerang Selatan (Tangsel) in mid-July 2017 has created a new dimension for Titian Foundation. This is a new undertaking by Titian, spreading its outreach further from the Klaten region. The First Generation (Gen 1) Tangsel consists of 15 scholarship recipients from underprivileged families and is run from CLC and representative office located on Jl. Suka Bakti 1 No 34, Serua Indah, Ciputat.

A day is then set for an introduction and socialization for the students, so they know more about Titian and can be an ambassador or role model for other children. Titian’s Introduction Day took place on Sunday, September 10th, 2017. The event was attended by Ibu Liy Kasoem, Titian staff, IKATIFO (Titian Alumni Association) members, and Ibu Tia and Nuri, representatives from Soroptimist International of Jakarta.

Ibu Lily opened the session, telling the story of Titian’s journey: how it started and the programmes it offers. She then motivated students to follow in the footsteps of Titian’s alumni who are real-life testaments of the Scholarship Programme’s success. Pak Riyanto and Ibu Tia also encouraged students to keep their spirits high and stay motivated to reach their dreams.

A couple of IKATIFO members shared their Titian experience and specifically emphasised the impact it has made on their lives. Hopefully, this will be the first step for Tangsel scholarship recipient to start building their dreams.

Afterwards, students were informed about the obligations they have to fulfill as Titian scholarship recipients. The event was closed by cutting tumpeng (rice cones) as a symbolic gesture to officially start the Scholarship Programme in Tangsel, and was then followed by lunch. (EW)
