The alumni of Titian Lombok Generation 1 and 2, the early graduates, felt proud when visiting the new Titian CLC to celebrate the Send-off of their younger peers, Generation 3. They were very happy and touched—recalling their struggles when they were still Titian scholarship students. By attending this event, they expressed their appreciation to their juniors who had struggled for three years studying together at Titian. They are proud of their younger peers’ achievements, who are now possessing the same opportunity as them: to continue their education to a higher level.
“Various Colors, Various Dreams” was the theme for the Send-off of Generation 3 Titian Lombok in Pemenang, implying that they have different dreams. “Through this theme, we hope that the many colors (experiences) in life will bring Titianers Generation 3 to the many dreams they have,” said our facilitator in Pemenang. The Send-off event took place on June 16, 2024, in Titian Pemenang CLC’s beautiful green backyard, which was stunningly decorated by the event committee consisting of Generation 4 and 5.
This Send-off was memorable because it was the first time they held a Send-off event at the new Titian CLC, a CLC in Pemenang, Lombok, supported by the construction by the Van Empel Goldman Foundation. Several remarks were given by Ibu Lily Kasoem as the Founder of Titian, the Deputy Regent of North Lombok, Bapak Danny Carter, and also a representative of the students’ parents.
Farewells do not always bring melancholy. On this occasion, Generation 3 scholarship students and other performers gave their best performances by reading poetry, singing together, and dancing together. Their performances amazed the invited guests who attended. The Send-off event of Generation 3 was filled with happiness and positive energies, with hopeful and spirited eye stares coming from Generation 3 who would continue to college and also delve in the workforce.
The warm welcome given by Ibu Lily Kasoem and the North Lombok’s Deputy Regent successfully ignited the youngsters’ spirits to keep evolving. Through her remarks, Ibu Lily shared stories with the invited guests about the achievements of Titian scholarship students. She conveyed the message that the education they had received in school and at the Titian was the initial foundation for them in building dreams.
After joining Titian for three years, she hoped that Titian graduates would understand the importance of self-development and continuously strive to grow. She also advised parents to continue providing opportunities and support for their children to seek knowledge at the university level. “Many opportunities and scholarships have been provided by the government to continue education at universities,” she said. “We hope that parents can give their trust for them to gain advantageous knowledge at universities.”
The remarks given by the Deputy Regent, Mr. Danny Carter, empowered the graduates. Besides giving appreciation to Titian for its efforts to improve the quality of human resources in North Lombok, he provided motivation to keep fighting for their dreams. This was expressed through a poem he presented about how life is a choice. In each verse, he motivated the youngsters to keep moving and striving for the future. “The struggle is still long and needs to be continuously pursued,” he reminded them that this point is just the beginning of their journey.
Now, Generation 3 Lombok, who come from challenging backgrounds, have the same opportunity to fly high, continue to grow, and achieve their colorful dreams and aspirations. All of this is possible due to a beautiful synergy, a synergy endeavored by Titian and the sponsors who support the children of Lombok to develop. The graduation of three generations in Pemenang, Lombok in this year is definitely extraordinary. Congratulations, Generation 3 Titian Lombok, the key to continuing education to a higher level, is now in your hands.
