On a radiant morning, the atmosphere was filled with excitement in Sumur Mual Hamlet, Pemenang. Faces displayed eager curiosity: a learning centre was ready to be inaugurated amidst the villagers, bringing a new era of learning and empowerment for the surrounding community. That day marked the pinnacle of the hard work of a team driven by a vision to build a brighter future.
Previously, Titian carried out its Community Learning Centre (CLC) activities at SMPN 2 Pemenang, which kindly provided classroom space to run various Titian programmes. However, with significant support from the Van Empel Goldman Foundation as our co-funding partner, our CLC in Pemenang could be realized. Like other Titian Community Learning Centres’ goals, the purpose of Titian’s presence in Pemenang is community involvement for sustainable development through Titian’s distinctive educational activities. In this place, various interactive sessions can be conducted. Titian is ready to provide insights into the various opportunities waiting to be explored by learners—Sumur Mual Hamlet has a new lease on life.
A beautiful traditional dance signaled the beginning of the event. The event was attended by Mr. Danny Carter Febrianto Ridawan (Deputy Regent of North Lombok Regency), Mr. Datu Aryanata Bayuaji (Head of Pemenang District), Mr. Asmaat (Head of Pemenang Barat Village), Mr. Sahrudin (Head of Sumur Mual Hamlet), as well as Titian sponsors and other invited guests. Mrs. Lily Kasoem (CEO of Titian Foundation) gave her speech before the building was inaugurated, accompanied by one of the first-generation alumni of Titian Lombok who is currently continuing her studies at Mataram University, Honey Alya.
As the ceremonial ribbon was cut with solemnity, signifying the official opening of the CLC, an inevitable atmosphere of joy was felt. Guests enthusiastically explored the new learning spaces. Inspiring remarks were also given by the Vice Regent of North Lombok, Danny Carter, as well as Casper Goldman and Isabelle van Empel from the Van Empel Goldman Foundation as funding partners for the construction of Titian Pemenang CLC, expressing their thoughts on collaborating with Titian. This inauguration day was a moment for sponsors, the Vice Regent of North Lombok, and village officials to get to know Titian scholarship students and facilitators better, to learn more about what Titian has been striving for in Lombok.
At the end of the day, filled with gratitude and pride for the achievements of Titian scholarship students in Lombok since Titian started operating in Lombok in 2019, Mrs. Lily Kasoem, as CEO of Titian Foundation, hopes that Titian Pemenang CLC will continue to be a source of collaboration, the emergence of new ideas, and curiosity about new knowledge needed to face various challenges in the future.
The inauguration day of Pemenang CLC is a humble beginning of a hope—a dream through collective commitment to shape a better tomorrow. This event marks the start of a new chapter in the story of the community of West Pemenang Village, which now has one of the educational beacons in Lombok to guide various individuals, especially the younger generation, towards the best version of themselves.
